Rondell Sheridan gives an interview so good it’s got 2 parts. Everyone knows him from his ridiculously long list of starring and guest starring TV roles but the comedian, actor and director gives a must listen interview for comedians and standup comedy fans. Sheridan talks first time doing standup, coming up in the NYC comedy clubs and how his move to LA unfolded – you know, with the usual stuff like doing The Tonight Show with Carson AND Leno, Letterman, Late Night w/Conan O’Brien and back to back standup specials.
The HILARIOUS Christopher Brian Roach talks life, comedy and his latest gig on CBS’s “Kevin Can Wait” and comedy insider John Trueson plays wingman. A must listen 30 minute episode that will make your commute fly by (even if your spouse is in the car).
Photographer, viral video creator and Moms Demand Action member Dana Spaeth-Williams shares her opinions on gun sense. Spaeth-Williams launches this straightforward interview declaring “You can keep your gun” and stresses her belief in the need for “gun sense”, not the of dismantling the right to bear arms. She tells Bernie & AL what inspired her to create ‘Dear Mom and Dad – get to work saving my life!’ which went viral and was picked up by Yahoo, MSN and AOL. Spaeth-Williams regrouped after fierce backlash using her detractors’ words verbatim in her follow up video ‘Snapshot of American Gun Extremists’:
This interview can be considered the counterpart to our previous interview with NRA member Marc Christopher Lawrence. Look for both sides of the spectrum in one episode soon. ***Please note: at minute 37:30 Spaeth-Williams quotes the number 33, the number is actually 33,000***
Comedian/actor Mark Christopher Lawrence gives us a play by play on thriving long term as a Hollywood actor. His IMBd page reads a mile long (Big Mike on NBC’s Chuck, Weeds, Glee, Terminator 2) and when he’s not busy lengthening that list you’ll find him doing theater, voiceovers and producing. This interview is a must listen for anyone starting out or trying to stay in the Hollywood game. At minute 43 we switch gears and Mark, a card carrying NRA member and pistol instructor shares his philosophy on gun control, Second Amendment rights and where he thinks they’re headed.
His Road Stories podcast has been touted by USA Today as “One of the funniest of 2013”. His TV writing for The Tonight Show (Fallon and Leno), Ridiculousness, Bill Engvall’s Here’s Your Sign Awards etc. has earned him more awards than Kim Kardashians had STD’s. He’s written for Conan O’Brian, Steve Carell, Dennis Miller. He created and produced the Cold Turkey reality TV series. In this episode Bernie & AL take a tour around the mind of Murray Valeriano. They get his take on the Joel Osteen, religion and what it’s like to be the son of a preacher.
Of course there’s the obligatory comedy industry stories, dick jokes and other malarkey.
Taylor Williamson talks about how America’s Got Talent changed his comedy career, what he’s been up to since coming in second place on the show and announces his guest appearance date for this season. Don’t let the rags to riches story fool you, Taylor is The Real Deal who has been performing standup comedy full force since his senior year of high school and he works just as hard now as he did when he started. The three comedians discuss working various facets of the comedy circuit and are pleasantly surprised when they realize Taylor is the son Bernie & AL gave up for adoption when they were teens.
Dani Klein Modisett drops by Bernie and AL’s just after the LA launch of her second book Take My Spouse, Please. Endorsed by Carl Reiner, Ben Stiller and Jim Gaffigan, the book is recommended by Los Angeles Magazine as one of ‘8 Books You Need to Read This July’. After taking an honest look at marriage and examining that point where “you’re either going to separate or double down” Modisett definitely doubled down – with 3 years of research interviewing comedians, marriage counselors and successful long term spouses. In Take My Spouse, Please Modisett goes beyond touting the importance of humor in a marriage and she applies 13 golden rules of comedy to maintaining a healthy, happy, long marriage. (A few rule examples: Show Up, Listen, Don’t Quit on a Bad Night) Dammit, this book is practical. If you know anyone getting married give them something they can actually use, stick a wad of cash in the pages of Take My Spouse, Please and give it to them.
Modisett’s interview, like her writing, is honest, informative and at times hilarious. This episode, like driving through Italian countryside, oftentimes veers off course and gets better with every turn.
Sooooo, do you love Wendy Liebman from America’s Got Talent? Or perhaps she rocked your world on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno? Or w/Johnny Carson? How bout her Letterman spots? Her HBO Special? It doesn’t matter which one of her dozens of TV credits or hundreds of live performances made you fall for her, the point is Wendy dropped by Bernie and AL’s to talk about her career, current projects and how being hit by a drunk driver changed her outlook on life, love and family. This episode is part 1 of a great hang with Liebman.

Jorge, born and raised in Mazatlan spent 17 years in San Francisco achieving the American Dream and has returned. Musician Cheryl talks ex-pat life and how the move allowed her a much better standard of living as an artist. Chris has settled down here after years of corporate life, her last stop being the manager of an IKEA in Abu Dhabi. (Yes, an IKEA in Abu Dhabi) All 3 guests have a different perspective on life in Mazatlan but all share a love of the city and want you to know about the amazing sense of community, the culture and the good time that you’re missing. As usual, Bernie tries to get a little Marxist and dick jokes ensue.
